About Chet Lowe
Chet Lowe’s story begins in the Bahamas, where he was born into a Christian family that lived out their faith. At only seven years old, he felt a call to ministry and hosted his first outreach—a Vacation Bible School in his parents’ garage. That small act sparked a lifelong mission to share the Gospel.
Chet’s heart was shaped by his parents, Ira and Pam Lowe, who loved people and served God with everything they had. Alongside them were his siblings—Susan and Matthew—whose lives left a lasting imprint on Chet’s journey.
When God Says “Go”
By thirteen, Chet was already stepping into missions. A church trip to South Korea led him to help build a church, and the following year, he traveled to Liberia to help construct a school. For a teenager from a small island, these experiences confirmed what he already knew: God was calling him to serve anywhere, at any time.
In 1994, Chet married Andrea. A year later, they moved to Liberia—in the midst of a brutal civil war—with a newborn. Life was far from easy, but they were there to serve those in deep need.
In the Middle of the Fire
The years in Liberia were marked by danger, heartbreak, and powerful purpose. In the heart of the conflict, they helped build 17 churches and launched Joseph’s Brethren, a ministry that rescued more than 1,500 children—many of them child soldiers. These children were taken in, placed in foster care, and welcomed into seven rehab centers where they encountered safety, healing, and hope.
Over time, Chet and Andrea’s family grew. One child was born before Liberia, two were born during their time there, and two more after returning to the U.S. In addition to raising five biological children, they also welcomed four others into their family through adoption and spiritual mentorship. Their home became a living example of what can happen when you say yes to the people God has placed in front of you.
Building People, Not Just Programs
Once stateside, Chet Lowe joined the staff at Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale, a church where he had been a member for 15 years. Over nearly three decades, he led ministries for couples, singles, parents, foster care, and missions.
He earned a Master’s in Christian Counseling to walk more deeply with people through difficult seasons. It became clear that ministry wasn’t just preaching—it was listening, counseling, and showing up for the people who mattered most in a local church context.
In 2005, Chet launched Patmos: Reality Discipleship, a young adult ministry that operated in Florida, Brazil, the Bahamas, El Salvador, and California. Through the program, many were disciplined, and one young man even became a spiritual son—redefining for Chet what family could look like.
Grief That Didn’t Win
In 2011, tragedy struck. Chet’s younger brother, a Navy Lieutenant, died in a plane crash at the age of 33. In the following years, Chet also lost his father and uncle. It was a season of deep grief—but not of defeat. Instead of retreating, Chet leaned into the call of God, continuing to teach, shepherd, and serve.
A New Chapter in California
In 2015, Chet sensed God was beginning something new and moved his family to Southern California. He became lead pastor at Coast Hills Church in Aliso Viejo, where he helped rebuild a community of faith and led through seasons of transformation.
Then, in 2021, Pastor Jeff Gill of Calvary Chapel South Bay stepped down. Chet was invited to step in and lead. The church was reimagined and renamed Calvary LIFE, where Chet stepped into a new mandate to rebuild and revive.
Pastor Chet Lowe now lives in San Pedro, California, with his family. He and Andrea lead Calvary LIFE with a mission-driven by four core values: L.I.F.E. – Learning the Word, Investing in Relationships, Following the Way of Christ Jesus, and Engaging Our World.
Ministry Without Walls
For Pastor Chet, ministry doesn’t stop at the church door. Calvary LIFE runs several local outreach efforts, including:
- Feed His Hope – Serving Los Angeles’ homeless with meals and supplies
- Jesus Loves Fig – An anti-human trafficking ministry in LA’s Figueroa Corridor
- Beach ministry, prison ministry, and regular community service efforts
Global outreach has taken Chet to countries like Brazil, El Salvador, South Korea, and the Bahamas. Calvary LIFE currently supports more than 30 missionary works worldwide.
Discipleship has become his way of life. Chet provides regular biblical counseling and continues to walk closely with those navigating life’s most complex moments.
Family remains a core priority. Alongside Andrea, Chet has raised a blended family of biological and adopted children—and remains a passionate advocate for foster care and adoption.
Still Saying Yes
2025 is a year of milestones:
- 30 years since their life-altering mission to Liberia
- 45 years of Calvary LIFE
- 20 years of the Patmos discipleship ministry
- 10 years since the release of Chet’s autobiography, Living Parable
But for Chet, it’s never been about anniversaries or accolades. It’s always about what’s next—the next person who needs encouragement, the next mission to support, the next message that can point someone to Jesus.
And so, he keeps saying yes.
To faith. To adventure. To people. To Jesus.
